Is this a therapy or counseling group?
No. This is a skills-based SEL + wellness program. The focus is on emotional regulation skills, stress + nervous system education, gentle movement, breathwork, and sound-supported rest. It does not provide diagnosis, treatment, or crisis care. If a student needs therapeutic or higher-level support, referral options may be provided.
Who is this program appropriate for?
This group is designed for high school students who experience stress, overwhelm, worry, tension, or low motivation, and would benefit from learning coping and regulation tools. It is not appropriate for students with active safety concerns, recent psychiatric hospitalization, unmanaged behavioral concerns, or acute substance use crisis.
Will there be a screening or intake before joining?
Yes. A brief parent + student screening conversation is required prior to acceptance to ensure the program is appropriate and supportive. This is not a clinical evaluation, simply a suitability check.
Do students need to be able to participate in yoga?
Yes. Students must be physically able to participate in gentle yoga and movement.
Yoga in this program is slow, accessible, grounding, and adaptable. Students should be able to move from standing to seated or floor positions and participate safely without medical restriction. Please contact us prior to registering if mobility or medical concerns exist.
What should students bring or wear?
Students should wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement and may bring:
• A water bottle
• Yoga mats and props are provided unless otherwise noted.
What is the drop-off and pick-up process?
Parents/guardians are responsible for transportation.
• Students should arrive 5–10 minutes early for check-in
• Parents may drop off and leave during the session
• Students must be picked up promptly at the scheduled end time
For safety:
• Students may not wait outside unsupervised
• Students will only be released to guardians listed on the registration form unless they are driving themselves, of age of consent to make decisions
Please notify the facilitator in advance if another adult will be picking up your teen.
May parents stay during the group?
No. This is a closed student group to support comfort and engagement. Parents may ask general program questions before or after sessions.
Is confidentiality guaranteed?
Confidentiality is encouraged, but not guaranteed in a peer group setting. Students are asked to respect one another’s privacy. Facilitators may break confidentiality only if safety concerns arise.
What happens if my teen becomes overwhelmed during a session?
Facilitators are trained in trauma‑informed and somatic‑aware regulation support. A student may be offered grounding support, a brief break, parent contact, or referral if needed.
What if my teen has to miss a session?
Attendance is expected for all sessions due to small‑group structure. Make‑up sessions are not available. You are more than welcome to sign up for future group.
Will there be communication with parents during the program?
Parents may receive general program updates or resources. Participant‑specific reflections are not shared unless safety concerns arise.
What is the phone/device policy?
To support presence and regulation, phones must be silenced and stored away during sessions, unless medical needs require access.
What if the facilitator believes my teen needs a higher level of support?
Participation may be paused, and the parent/guardian will be contacted to discuss recommendations and resources.
